Day Ride Gear
Plan to wear long pants, bring a jacket, waterbottle, camera, and good hat and or sunscreen. If you want to fish, please plan to have that ready to put on the horse the day of the ride. We’ll provide lunch for you.
All Day Horseback rides in the Stanley Basin
Sawtooth Lake- About a 5 mile ride one way. Beautiful high mountain lake. Last mile between Alpine Lake and Sawtooth Lake is not for the faint at heart. Steep switchbacks. Trailhead at Iron Creek Campground, 4 miles out of Stanley on Highway 21.
Marshall Lake- 4.5 mile ride one way. Beautiful views of Redfish Lake, mountain meadows and the mountains. Marshall Lake is a small lake and has some fishing. Upper Marshall can be hiked to during your lunch break. Breathtaking views and spectacular lake. Trailhead at Corrals at Redfish.
Hell Roaring Lake- 5 miles ride each way. Our easiest ride through wooded terrain to Hell Roaring Lake which is beautiful and pristine. The lake is great, the ride is mostly through the trees. Trailhead at Decker Flat Road, 15 miles south of Stanley on Highway 75.
Alice Lake- 6.5 miles one way. Probably our most spectacular ride and our most challenging. Spectacular views, mountain meadows, high mountain lakes and a real memory maker. Trailhead at Pettit Lake, 18 miles south of Stanley on Highway 75.
Alpine Lake Ride- 5 mile ride each way. This ride is in conjunction with Redfish Lake Lodge. Breakfast at the lodge, boat ride across spectacular Redfish Lake. Meet your guide and horses on the upper end of Redfish for a ride of the Redfish Canyon to Alpine Lake. Return for your boat ride back across the lake and dinner at the Lodge. All for one great price.
Galena Area All Day Horseback Rides
All Day: Each dayride is tailored to the groups adventurous spirit. This dayride is a challenging ride up to the historic twin cabins where we will have lunch. Then on to a historic mine that produced silver in the late 1800’s. Other dayrides are also available in this spectacular area.
